A Film by Aislinn Clarke
This Halloween, step into a world of ancient superstition, grief, and ghostly presences with Fréwaka—a haunting new Irish folk horror from acclaimed director Aislinn Clarke. This is a FREE event.
While dealing with the recent death of her estranged mother, Siobhan – who goes by ‘Shoo’ – is offered a new job as a live-in carer for a frail older woman. Despite the objections of her pregnant fiancée Mila, Shoo accepts the offer. She arrives in the rural home to discover a frightened and deeply superstitious woman named Peig. Peig warns that evil spirits lurk nearby and that they’ve already got eyes on Shoo.
Told primarily through the Irish language, Fréwaka is a bold and unsettling film that breathes new life into the folk horror genre—perfect for a chilling Halloween evening in Tuar Ard.
