We have been building our rural village trad session since March 2022 & like so many other rural communities we have lost some incredible musicians over the past few years. We are grateful for the efforts of local music heros to revive trad music in Loughnavalley such as Declan Fox, Mick Hannon, Paddy McCarthy, Frank & Mary Brennan, Davy Joe Fallon, Johnny Corrigan who are elevating powerful young banjo players like Charlie Carey & Jack Mulligan to date. Many more musicians, singers & sometimes dancers have been increasing in numbers (particularly since the last weekend of Mullingar Fleadh) travelling from Meath, Tullamore, Longford & Roscommon as well as the local villages & towns of Westmeath.
Our session musicians range from mid teens to mid 90's & we have some incredible voices bringing back songs from decades to a hundred years ago back to life in these sessions for all generations to hear, enjoy & indeed learn for themselves! There'll be a few classic guitar sing alongs too. Entry is free of charge.
All musicians, singers & dancers of all ages are very welcome & all of course are welcome to enjoy the session to celebrate our natious night of culture.
Music starts from 9pm until closing.
Jimmy, Sorcha & all the team at Fox's Loughnavalley!
