Picnic in the Park
Join us in the award winning Mullingar Town Park for a fantastic community event 'Picnic in the Park'.
Mullingar Town Park has been awarded the An Taisce Green Flag Award for Parks for a second consecutive year. This is recognition of the sustainable management of the Park to an international standard. Continued promotion and community involvement are key aspects of the continued management and development of the Park.
“Picnic in the Park” is a Community Event with activities for all the family including a Food & Craft Food, Live Music, Sports Skills and Children’s Entertainment.
The Food & Craft Fair brought to you by Westmeath Food Network will include a great array of local food and craft producers.
A Live Music Stage will host young local talent coordinated by the local Music Generation Live Music Performance Programme and a selection of up and coming local bands. Children’s Entertainment on the day will include a Fairy Trail, Face Painting, the “Mad Professor” brought to you by Westmeath County Council Environment Department, Children’s Dance Class by Elevate Academy of Dance and a double book launch by local children’s book writer Dolores Keaveny including a Children’s Monster Doodle.
Other local authors Maria Bourke & Patricia Gibney will be on hand for a book signing.
The Real Football Academy will be on hand to show off some soccer skills and our local skaters will be giving a skate demonstration on the Mullingar Skate Park.
Westmeath Sports Partnership will be providing free family cycling tours.
Mullingar Scouts are pitching up in the Park for the day so come along and see them in action.
Others taking part on the day include the local Community Gardai, Civil Defence, Westmeath Fire & Rescue Services, Mullingar Tidy Towns, Road Safety Authority and Westmeath Heritage.
Competitions will be run on the day by Westmeath County Council Environmental Section and the Road Safety Authority.
